This month, Model Airplane News made a fairly historic deviation from normal cover design -- this is one of two covers in the first 40 years that did not feature a real or model piloted aircraft. (The other is the Regulus Cruise Missile on the April, 1957 cover.

This is of some note because the model uses the Jetex system -- essentially a small solid fuel rocket. These were considered "safe" and provided kids with the opportunity to experiment with "jet powered" models. If you'd like to learn more about this, check out the Jetex Fans Website.
