Model Airplane News March, 1951 Mikoyan-Gurevitch MiG 15 Model Airplane News Cover Art for March, 1951 by Jo Kotula Click to Enlarge The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 jet fighter was developed for the USSR by Artem Mikoyan and Mikhail Gurevich who had a long history of successful designs from the 1930s on. The MiG-15 was one of the first successful swept-wing jet fighters. It was the nemesis of the USAF in the Korean War. The MiG-15 led to the more advanced MiG-17 that challenged supersonic American fighters over North Vietnam in the 1960s. The MiG-15 is one of the most numerous jet aircraft ever made, with over 12,000 built in Russia and another 6,000 under foreign license.
