"Flea" and "Fright" Click to Enlarge

The cover shows modeler Don McGowan with his glider-towing gas model. As discussed in a feature article two models named "Flea" (glider) and "Fright" (tow) were made -- the gas powered model towed the glider to altitude and then released it to soar. The plans for both models were included in the issue.

This line of modeling is still going on today. Here is some video. Thanks to modern sub-miniature video cameras, you can watch the action from the "cockpit" of the model glider.
