The Jam at CCB, 10-18-02
Hi Lindy
Hoppers!!! Watch it with us!
Friday, October 18, 2002 was a very good evening, especially if you came to Tom and Debra's dance at Chevy Chase Ballroom! First of all, there was a massive crowd of 250 "Die Hard" Lindy Hoppers, including Lizzie Hess (who coined the term). Then there was the fantastic music of the J Street Jumpers, who we really don't get to see often enough. However, the cherry on this sundae was the appearance of 3-time World Lindy Hop Champions, Kenneth and Helena Norbelie. Kenneth and Helena were in town to teach workshops. They are the founders of the Shout'N'Feel It performance team that set the town on fire last June. We were also privileged to have Captain Cameron Sellers in our midst. For those of you who don't know, Cameron is our own Lindy Hop Hero, returning from service in Afghanistan (and not so long ago, Bosnia). Cameron was the fellow who brought Swing to Kabul For about two weeks, we had a streaming video of the Jam from Friday October 18 on the site. It featured the J Street Jumpers playing A Train and performances by both Kenneth and Helena followed by Cameron dancing with Susie Bussard. The file was about 1.5 MB and we had to remove it to make room for newer jam footage. Feel free to Write to Us and we will e-mail you a copy of the video. Our very deep gratitude goes out to Dr. Ronnie Weinstein Chiropractor to the Lindy Trade for making this video and working with us to bring it to you at a manageable size.
