Hi Lindy Hoppers!!!
Tons of Vintage in One Place

Art Deco Society Fashion Show

On Saturday, April 20, the Art Deco Society of Washington put on a smash sell-out fashion show of glorious vintage from the 20s through the 50s. The event was held at the historic Women's National Democratic Club at DuPont Circle; it began at 6:30 with a small jazz quartet and hundreds of Art Deco enthusiasts mingled. I love these things, because they are the ONLY place where I can talk about Sue & Mare without people thinking about the fourth race at Pimlico... Don't delay in ordering your tickets for the ADSW Preservation Ball on May 4, 2002 at the newly Restored U.S. Botanical Gardens, dancing to the beautiful music of our zany friend, Peaches O'Dell.

The Fidgety Feet dance troupe put on a wonderful performance; they heralded the decades with dances from Charleston (20s), Lindy Hop (30s & 40s) and Jitterbug (50s). Their performance kept the crowd on their feet

In My Opinion, our lovely dancer Chrissy Hall-Reis stole the show in one spectacular number after another. In addition to having Fantastic clothes AND looking Drop Dead Gorgeous, Chrissy has the ability to BECOME the era.

Chrissy Hall-Reis as THE Flapper

In the 20s (in an unbelievable beaded dress), Chrissy WAS the John Held "flapper". In the 30s, she seemed to become Greta Garbo, and in the 40s you could only think "Hedy LaMarr". I'm just glad that Chrissy is a dancer and we can see her every week.

Danielle Sacripanti (one of our Rockabilly dance friends) electrified the crowd in every decade, winding up with a "knock your socks off" appearance in a 1950s Hawaiian bathing suit. It was worth the price of admission.

Here are some more photos from the show. Write us with your couture description...

We got the dress and tie in different places and we were surprised to find that they matched.. I got the "Perry Como" jacket from Mike and Karen Wanas, who we miss dearly!.
